Why Most Valley Homes Run a Heat Pump
Phoenix winters are mild, which is close to ideal for a heat pump. It cools exactly like an AC of the same size, then runs in reverse to move heat indoors on cold nights. Electric backup heat covers the few mornings that dip near freezing.
Replacing a heat pump? It is the same install process as an AC replacement: the old unit comes out, a matched new system goes in. Replacing a gas pack or an AC-plus-furnace setup? A heat pump takes gas combustion off your house, and your quote will show whether the switch makes sense for your electrical service.

How We Quote Your Installation
Every installation quote is in person, on site, and in writing before any commitment. Your price depends on system size, efficiency tier, package unit or split system, ductwork condition, and any electrical upgrades your home needs. We walk you through each line so you can compare it against any other quote.
What we quote on site is what you pay. No “we found something” calls from the roof.

From Quote to Walkthrough
In-home quote and Manual J.
We measure your home, inspect the ductwork and static pressure, check the electrical service, run a Manual J load calculation, and give you a written quote before any commitment.
Removal (replacements only).
The old heat pump, AC, or gas pack and the old thermostat come out. Refrigerant is reclaimed per EPA. On rooftop package units, we handle the crane lift and curb adapter where needed.
New equipment and electrical.
Matched outdoor and indoor equipment (or a new package unit), new line set on split systems, backup heat strips sized and wired, new thermostat set up for heat pump staging, a new disconnect and whip, and a breaker check.
Verification.
We run the system in cool and in heat: subcool and superheat dialed in, static pressure verified, airflow and supply temperatures measured, reversing valve and defrost operation checked.
Walkthrough.
How heat, AUX, and emergency heat work on your thermostat, when to change the filter, what your warranty covers, and what to call us for.
Most residential jobs finish in a day; crane lifts, ductwork, or electrical upgrades can make it two. In summer we arrive early, typically 7–8 a.m., to work ahead of the heat. Permitting is included where required, and we clean up the site and haul away the old equipment before we leave.

Single-Stage, Two-Stage, or Variable-Speed
We install American Standard, Goodman, and Amana heat pumps, and we will recommend a tier based on your load, your budget, and how long you plan to stay in the house.
Single-stage.
Lowest upfront cost, simplest equipment to service. A good fit for tight budgets or shorter ownership horizons.
Two-stage.
A step up in upfront cost, with quieter operation, longer and steadier cycles, and better humidity control in summer. The sweet spot for most Phoenix homes staying in place 7+ years.
Variable-speed (inverter).
The highest upfront cost of the three. It holds heating output better on cold mornings, leans less on backup heat, and runs quietly at partial load. Pays back over time on larger homes or premium builds.

How We Size Your System
In Phoenix, cooling sets the size. A heat pump sized for July has more than enough capacity for January, so summer load drives the choice.
An oversized heat pump short-cycles and never runs long enough to pull humidity out of the air. An undersized one runs nonstop through July and August and burns through compressor life. Both cost you more over the life of the system.
We run a proper Manual J, the industry-standard room-by-room load calculation, and show you the calc and the number we are sizing to before you sign anything. Most Phoenix homes land in the 2.5 to 5 ton range.

Heat Pump Installation & Replacement FAQs
Does a heat pump work in Phoenix?
Very well. Our mild winters are close to ideal for heat pumps, and a heat pump cools exactly like an AC of the same size and efficiency. For most Valley homes it is the simplest way to handle both seasons on one system.
Will a heat pump keep my house warm on cold nights?
Yes. Phoenix rarely gets cold enough to challenge a properly sized heat pump. On the coldest mornings, electric backup heat helps out automatically.
Heat pump or AC plus furnace: which should I get?
For most Valley homes, especially all-electric ones, a heat pump: one system, both seasons. If your home already has gas to the unit and you prefer gas heat, a gas pack can still fit. We compare both on your quote.
How long do heat pumps last in Arizona?
About 10 to 12 years. A Phoenix heat pump cools 7+ months a year and heats through winter, so it never really gets an off-season. If yours is 10+ years old and facing a major repair, replacement is usually the smarter long-term call.
What size heat pump do I need?
One sized by a Manual J load calculation. In our climate the cooling load drives it, and most Phoenix homes land between 2.5 and 5 tons. We do the calc and show it to you before we quote.
Which brands do you install?
American Standard (Customer Care Dealer), Goodman (Certified Dealer), and Amana (authorized dealer). We service every major residential brand beyond these. If you have a preference, tell us.
What warranty comes with a new heat pump?
Registered American Standard and Goodman installs carry a 10-year parts warranty, with 10-12 years on the compressor depending on tier. Our workmanship warranty on the install is 2 years. We register your equipment with the manufacturer the same day; unregistered units typically default to 5-year parts coverage.
Are there SRP or APS rebates for heat pumps?
Utility and federal incentives change often. Ask during your quote and we will tell you what is current for the equipment we are recommending.
Should I replace the indoor and outdoor unit together?
Yes. The manufacturer requires matched indoor and outdoor pairing for the warranty. Mixing a new outdoor unit with an old indoor coil creates capacity mismatches and can void warranty claims.
What if I already bought a unit somewhere else and just need it installed?
We install the equipment we quote and select for your home, so we don’t install units purchased elsewhere. If you already own equipment, call us and we’ll talk through your options honestly.
Do you handle the permit?
Yes. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection, and meet the inspector.
Can I finance the install?
Yes. Financing is available through Wisetack. See financing options →
