AC Repair in Scottsdale & Phoenix Since 1975
Phoenix heat turns small problems into no-cool calls. A weak capacitor or slow refrigerant leak that goes unnoticed in May often fails outright in July. Maricopa Air has repaired residential and commercial cooling systems across the Valley since 1975.

How Repair Pricing Works
Every repair starts with a full diagnostic visit. You get the fault, the total cost, and your options in writing before any work starts.
What we quote on site is what you pay. No “we found something” calls from the attic. No three-day-later quote by email.
Repairs and replacements can be financed through Wisetack on qualifying projects. See financing options →

What Happens on a Service Call
Two-hour arrival window
We text when the tech is on the way.
Diagnostic walk
Thermostat, electrical, refrigerant pressures, static pressure, airflow at registers, condenser coil, evaporator coil, drain line, blower wheel. We check the whole system, even after we find the first problem.
The fault, the cost, your options
Written on the spot.
The repair
Done that visit when we can. Most capacitors, contactors, and fan motors are same-day on the truck.
Verification
We don’t leave until pressures, temps, and airflow read where they should. You see the numbers.
While you wait for the tech: Turn the system off at the thermostat. Use the breaker only if the thermostat won’t shut it off, or if you smell burning. Move pets and anyone vulnerable to heat to the coolest room. If anyone shows signs of heat illness, dizziness, headache, nausea, call 911 first, then us.

Common AC Failures in Phoenix Homes, and What They Mean
Phoenix heat is hard on equipment. After more than 50 years in this climate, we see the same handful of failures every summer.
Blown capacitor.
The most common single-component failure in Phoenix. Symptom: outdoor unit hums but won’t start, or starts and stops within seconds. Usually repaired the same visit.
Failed contactor.
Pitted or burned contacts after a few summers of heavy duty cycling. Symptom: outdoor unit completely dead, or buzzing without engaging. Usually repaired the same visit.
Frozen evaporator coil.
Caused by restricted airflow: clogged filter, dirty coil, failed blower, or low refrigerant. Symptom: warm air at the registers, ice visible on the indoor coil. Shut the system off and let it thaw before we arrive. Running it frozen damages the compressor.
Condenser fan motor failure.
Bearings and windings worn down by rooftop and exterior heat. Symptom: outdoor unit running but blowing warm air, high-pressure trip, compressor short-cycling. Usually repaired the same visit.
Refrigerant leak at line-set joints.
Phoenix UV and heat cycling stress copper braze joints over time. We pressure-test, locate, repair the leak, then recharge. A recharge without fixing the leak only buys time.
Tripped high-pressure cutout.
Safety switch firing because head pressure exceeded spec, usually a dirty condenser coil, failed fan, or overcharged system.
Clogged drain line.
Algae buildup backs water into the secondary pan, which trips a float switch and shuts the system down. We clear the line and treat it to slow regrowth.

Repair or Replace?
If the math points to repair, we repair. If it points to replacement, we say so. We run the numbers with you on site: estimated repair cost, system age, remaining lifespan, and what a replacement quote would look like.

AC Repair FAQs
How long does an AC repair take?
Most single-component repairs, capacitor, contactor, fan motor, thermostat, wrap in 60 to 90 minutes once we’re on site. Refrigerant leaks, evaporator coil work, and compressor replacement run longer. We diagnose first, quote total cost, then start the clock.
Can I run my AC if it's not cooling well?
Not for long. A system that’s running but not cooling is usually doing damage to itself, and a small repair can turn into a compressor replacement. Shut it off at the thermostat and call us. If anyone shows signs of heat illness, call 911 first, then us.
How fast can you get to my house?
Two-hour windows on scheduled calls. We prioritize no-cool calls during peak summer and dispatch the closest available tech.
What does the diagnostic visit cover?
A full system walkthrough. You get a written fault and a quote before any repair starts.
My AC is iced over. Is that an emergency?
Shut it off at the thermostat and let it thaw. Running it frozen damages the compressor. Then call us. It’s almost always a fast fix, but the diagnosis matters.
Do you work on all brands?
Yes. We’re manufacturer trained on American Standard and Goodman, and we service every major residential brand.
Is there a warranty on the repair?
Yes. Parts carry the manufacturer warranty. Our workmanship warranty on the repair itself is one year.
Do you offer financing on repairs?
Yes, on qualifying repairs. Financing is available through Wisetack. See financing options →
