Heating Installation & Replacement

Heating Installation & Replacement in Scottsdale & Phoenix.

Heat pumps and gas packs sized to your home, with most installs finished in a day.

In the Valley, your heating system is almost always your cooling system too. We will give you a straight answer on heat pump vs. gas pack, size it to your home, and never push you to buy more than you need.

Heat Pump or Gas Pack: Which One Fits Your Home

Most Phoenix homes heat and cool with one of two systems, and replacing one replaces both your heat and your AC.

Heat pump. An all-electric system that cools in summer and runs in reverse to heat in winter. Phoenix winters are mild enough that a heat pump handles nearly every night on its own, with electric backup heat for the coldest mornings. No gas line, no flue, no combustion. Gas pack. A gas/electric package unit: electric cooling plus a small gas furnace in the same cabinet, usually on the roof or beside the house. A good fit if your home already has gas to the unit and you prefer gas heat.

Have a gas pack now? You can switch to a heat pump, and your quote will show whether it makes sense for your home. Either way: one crew, one sizing process, one honest quote. Heating just one room, a garage, or a casita? See ductless mini-split installation.

How We Quote Your Installation

Every installation quote is in person, on site, and in writing before any commitment. Your price depends on system size, efficiency tier, heat pump vs. gas pack, package unit vs. split system, ductwork condition, and any electrical or gas-line work your home needs. We walk you through each line so you can compare it against any other quote.

What we quote on site is what you pay. No “we found something” calls from the roof.

Financing available through Wisetack. See financing options →

our process

From Quote to Walkthrough

In-home quote and Manual J.

We measure your home, inspect the ductwork and static pressure, check the electrical service and any gas line, run a Manual J load calculation, and give you a written quote before any commitment.

Removal (replacements only).

The old package unit or split system and the old thermostat come out. Refrigerant is reclaimed per EPA. On rooftop package units, we handle the crane lift and curb adapter where needed.

New equipment and connections.

New unit set and leveled, duct transitions sealed, new thermostat, a new disconnect and whip, and a breaker check. On gas packs, the gas connection is leak-tested and the flue checked. On heat pumps, backup heat strips are sized and wired.

Verification.

We run full cooling and heating cycles: subcool and superheat dialed in, static pressure verified, airflow and supply temperatures measured at the registers. On heat pumps, we also check defrost operation and the backup heat settings.

Walkthrough.

How to use the heat and AUX settings, when to change the filter, what your warranty covers, and what to call us for.

Most residential jobs finish in a day; crane lifts, ductwork, or electrical upgrades can make it two. Permitting is included where required, and we clean up the site and haul away the old equipment before we leave.

Single-Stage, Two-Stage, or Variable-Speed

We install American Standard, Goodman, and Amana heat pumps and gas packs, and we will recommend a tier based on your load, your budget, and how long you plan to stay in the house.

Single-stage.

Lowest upfront cost, simplest equipment to service. A good fit for tight budgets or shorter ownership horizons.

A step up in upfront cost, with quieter operation, longer and steadier cycles, and better humidity control in summer. The sweet spot for most Phoenix homes staying in place 7+ years.

The highest upfront cost of the three. On a heat pump, it holds heating output better on cold mornings and leans less on backup heat. Pays back over time on larger homes or premium builds.

How We Size Your System

In Phoenix, cooling sets the size. A system sized for July has more than enough capacity for January, so the heat side rarely limits the choice.

Getting the size wrong is still the most common reason an install fails early. An oversized unit short-cycles and never runs long enough to pull humidity out of the air. An undersized unit runs nonstop through July and August and burns through compressor life.

We run a proper Manual J, the industry-standard room-by-room load calculation, and show you the calc and the number we are sizing to before you sign anything. Most Phoenix homes land in the 2.5 to 5 ton range.

Heating Installation & Replacement FAQs

Heat pump or gas pack: which is better for Phoenix?

For most Valley homes, a heat pump. Our winters are mild, so a heat pump heats efficiently on nearly every night of the year, and it is the same system that cools. A gas pack makes sense if you already have gas to the unit and prefer gas heat. We will lay out both on your quote.

Often, yes, at replacement time. It takes gas combustion off your house, and in our climate heating costs usually come out similar or lower. The deciding factors are your electrical service and your gas rates, and we check both during the quote.

Yes. A heat pump cools exactly like an AC of the same size and efficiency. The heating feature does not cost you any cooling capacity.

Yes. Phoenix rarely gets cold enough to challenge a properly sized heat pump. On the coldest mornings, electric backup heat helps out automatically.

About 10 to 12 years. A Phoenix heat pump cools 7+ months a year and heats through winter, so it never really gets an off-season. If yours is 10+ years old and facing a major repair, replacement is usually the smarter long-term call. We will do the math with you on site.

American Standard (Customer Care Dealer), Goodman (Certified Dealer), and Amana (authorized dealer). We service every major residential brand beyond these. If you have a preference, tell us.

Registered American Standard and Goodman installs carry a 10-year parts warranty, with 10-12 years on the compressor depending on tier. Our workmanship warranty on the install is 2 years. We register your equipment with the manufacturer the same day; unregistered units typically default to 5-year parts coverage.

Utility and federal incentives change often. Ask during your quote and we will tell you what is current for the equipment we are recommending.

Four things. Was a Manual J load calculation done? Are the indoor and outdoor units a matched pair? Is the backup heat sized and wired? Will the equipment be registered for the full warranty? We answer all four in writing on every quote.

We install the equipment we quote and select for your home, so we don’t install units purchased elsewhere. If you already own equipment, call us and we’ll talk through your options honestly.
